D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Land Accounting Support in the Accounting Department. The right candidate will assist in account analysis for land acquisition and land development projects.  Prepare timely journal entries.  Aid in maintaining budgets and updating projected costs. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • Review job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, dollar amount errors on invoices, etc.

  • Review Gross Profit Margins of subdivisions

  • Prepare and enter current journal entries

  • Perform account analysis on all land budgets and identify areas of concern

  • Update land spreadsheet for the weekly funding request

  • Responsible for running various reports and performing budget tracking

  • Prepare/update land acquisition proformas (LAPs), planning analytics tool, and the weekly lot supply report

  • Assist the Land Development Managers with the bidding process, including preparing bid letters, accumulating plans to go with the bid letter, and inputting the bids into a spreadsheet

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors

  • Responsible for Accounts Payable related duties for land development activities (i.e., code and obtain approval of invoices)

  • Prepare spreadsheet identifying land development payments due and budget revisions for manager approval

  • Assist Division Management/Accounting with maintaining accurate information for future planning

  • Work on projects as delegated by Land Managers, Acquisition or Development

  • Assist vendors or subcontractors with questions or issues

  • Perform general clerical assistance as needed

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company


 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience




  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school

  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training

  • Possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines

  • Ability to work well within a team

  • Familiarity working with contracts

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

  • Proficiency with MS Office and email



Preferred Qualifications




  • JD Edwards experience a plus

  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail

  • Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large volumes of data
